Senate Bill 25 and SBs 549–554 were developed through extensive collaboration with local governments, water utilities, and community organizations. This legislation seeks to address Michigan’s water affordability crisis while promoting equity, economic stability, and public health for all residents.
The proposed statewide program, administered by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in collaboration with community organizations, would help ensure access to clean water, financial relief for struggling families, and financial stability for water utilities through reliable revenue for infrastructure maintenance.
