LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. John Damoose , R-Harbor Springs, welcomed Chief Petty Officer Tyler Benson to Lansing on Thursday morning as his guest for the Senate’s 28th Annual Memorial Day Service.
Benson joined the U.S. Coast Guard right out of high school and served for 23 years until his retirement this year. He has been stationed in Sandy Hook, N.J.; Buffalo, N.Y.; Yorktown, Va.; New York Harbor, and most recently ran the U.S. Coast Guard station in St. Ignace. He now resides in Petoskey.
